The Annual Prize Giving of Ave Maria Convent, Negombo, 20222023

The Annual Prize Giving Ceremony of Ave Maria Convent, Negombo for the academic year 2022/2023 was held on July 30, 2024. The event was graced by Dr. K. Sri Ranjan, a distinguished Consultant in Family Medicine, the Regional President of the World Organization of National Colleges and Academic Institutions in Family Medicine - South Asia (WONCA), and a Lecturer and Examiner of Family Medicine at the University of Kelaniya and the College of General Practitioners of Sri Lanka. The ceremony commenced with a presentation of the school report for the year 2022/2023 by the Principal, Rev. Sr. Priyangani Hathurusinghe. This was followed by a multimedia presentation based on the excellent progression of various societies and associations, including the Religious Activities and Liturgy Committee, Associations of Co-curricular Activities, Extra-curricular Activities, Games, and the Prefects' Body. Awards were presented to students in recognition of their academic achievements. Special awards were given to students who excelled in the Grade 5 Scholarship Examination for 2022/2023, as well as those who obtained high results in the G.C.E. Ordinary Level Exam with nine distinction passes in 2022. Students who achieved three distinction passes in the G.C.E. Advanced Level Examination for 2022/2023 were also honoured, along with those who obtained the highest aggregate scores in the streams of Physical Science, Biological Science, Commerce and Arts. In addition to academic accolades, the head prefects for the years 2021/2022 and 2022/2023 were awarded for their dedicated service rendered to the alma mater. The event also acknowledged the achievements of university-selected students who sat for the G.C.E. Advanced Level exams in 2021 and 2022, celebrating their next steps towards higher education. Moreover, the ceremony was enlivened by enchanting dance performances by the students. The event concluded with a significant motivation for Ave Marians to strive for excellence.
